I'm Back

And I have been for a few days, and frankly I thought you guys deserved an update at that point. And I would have, but it seems I'm fresh out of laundry and unpacking jokes. This, though, I can show you:

The area looks a little different than in those screens, because I populated with NPCs and did all the scripting for it and whatever. Additionally, I've finished up a few other things, which puts me precisely _____ far away from release. I'm really close is basically the, ah, main point I'm making here.

This area is a little superflouous to the mod. There's a few things I decided to move to it instead of somewhere else simply because I made it. It's more of a...hallway. Like say you have two rooms which both have something going on in them. You've got to connect the rooms. Well, you don't have to, could just jump between the rooms, but that's stupid. So my link to the next mod as it stood was stupid by association. This area is pretty much a fancy hallway is the, ah, theme here.

Also, check this out by clicking this link. You should, you know, try and do it. I'm going to.

So anyway, the vacation was good. Went to Disney, dodged a hurricane, came back here. Now I'm in the drivers seat, freshly rested, and motivated to get done. And on that note, it's back to the toolset.

Hey DW, like the new screen shots. The last one was really nice.

Good to hear your time with your family together went well. Did you get your pic taken with Mickey? hehehe

Regards
Liso

Nah, no Mickey.

It's weird to me that he's as popular as he is. When was the last time they put a Mickey movie out?

My daughter seemed to like him.

But I met a laundry list of characters. All the princesses (except Mulan, my wife's fav), Winnie the Pooh and crew, Alice in Wonderland, Jimmy the Cricket, a couple of other ones.

Eeyor (or whatever) wanted to give me a hug for some reason, I'm like "Nah, dude, that's not going to happen."

Disney is pretty awesome actually. They know how to make a show out of everything.

You're in the driver's seat?! Oh gods Dirtywick! DON'T CODE AND DRIVE!!! O.o

Seriously, though, welcome back. Disneyworld is big fun. I am not quite sure they have Mulan running around there (technically, she's not even a Princess. Though I won't begrudge her her place in their ranks. I do find it unfair they don't include Princess Kidagakash [aka Princess Kida] from Atlantis in it, just because Atlantis wasn't as popuplar. I think it was one awesome movie, and heck, it had Leonard Nimoy as King Kashekim Nedakh! Seriously, he did one awesome job. And Kida's more princess than any of the others, having been one for...several thousand years.). They had Kida running around for some time, but not too long, sadly. I would have loved to have my picture taken with her. I'd also would love to have my picture taken with Mulan.

Also, I prefer the Ducks to Mickey. I am a big fan of the comics, particularly Carl Barks, and Don Rosa. Carl Barks, because he wrote the greatest stories ever...Don Rosa because he's a worthy successor, writing equally engaging stories - they're classic tales of adventures, not like some of those Duck stories that just try to be funny and have a silly, nonsensical story. Don Rosa actually checks if they make sense, and tries to keep them as authentic as possible. In one story Scrooge is on board the Cutty Sark, and witnesses the explosion of Krakatoa. Mr. Rosa actually checked the logbooks to see if the Cutty Sark (one of the last great sailing boats, by the way), was actually in that area at the time, before settling with that. Coupled with his incredibly detailed drawing style (he explains it by saying he never learned to draw. :P), it makes his work perfect. You can look at lineart from the series "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" here:

Here's one of those incredibly detailed scenes. And he does that in *all* his stories:

And my personal favourite is the picture at the bottom of this page:

http://personal.sdf.bellsouth.net/d/a/danshane/scroopage/los290_3.htm

(See the Mickey Mouse squashed below the left elephant's foot? ^_^ )

But Mickey Mouse...they do make comics with him, but I never liked them, because too often he comes off like a snob - he's smart, and everything he does work. What happened to the friendly mouse with the smile on his face, that had some harmless accidents happen to him from time to time, yet still managed to remain cheerful at all time? Donald still gets all the bad luck, his character remains practically unchanged...he's a bit more easy to understand maybe. But Mickey suddenly is the superman of the Disney world, at least in the comics. Whenever they make a movie (Remember when they made a Mickey Mouse version of "The Prince and the Pauper"?), they seem to get his character right. The Mickey presenting Disney world is still the same from the beginning. But in comic books, he's just...awful.

Still trying to find a good copy of the Baldur's Gate Compilation for you, Dirtywick. Never fear, I have not forgotten you.

That's a very realistic looking city you have there. I can imagine how it comes to life with lots of NPCs going about their business. That's the best "hallway" I've seen in an NWN2 module.

Have you added any monk gear to this mod? Most of the mods I have played they have ignored monks.

Mulan is considered one of the princesses. I took my daughter to this princess character dinner and, long story short, she got a card signed by all of them and her signature was on it (though she wasn't present at the dinner; neither was Snow White, my daughter's favorite.)

Thanks Frank. I started work on another area using snow...not going so well.

Yes, there's monk gear, both in stores and in drops. Albeit not much, though there is a few custom gloves that aren't class specific (but really, who takes unarmed strike besides a monk?) and maybe some other monk-ish stuff, but the standard "sun soul" or whatever gear and shurikens are available.

Yes, I know. It's just one of those jokes between some friends and I that *technically* she is not *A* princess. She is one of *the* Disney Princesses, but she is not a princess in any other way. Note that in those cases we joke we mock-emphasize the "technically", and then laugh at our own sillyness. ;)

But as long as the kiddies are happy, there's really no need to argue semantics (which is something I don't generally do, I just point things about semantics out. ;) Just ignote me when I do, m'kay? I often forget that people don't like to be corrected, when I myself like being corrected when I might be wrong.), I agree.

Also, you might want to see the Disney Princess Skit (don't watch it with your kids though. It's not awfully adult, but there's still some things hinted at that you probably don't want your kids start asking questions about. *laughs* Nothing lewd, don't worry.)
